BS&A Software, established in 1987, stands as a trailblazer in delivering exceptional municipal software solutions to over 2,100 local governments. With a storied history steeped in expertise, our meticulously designed solutions streamline municipal functions such as budgets, tax assessments, utility billing, permitting, and more. Empowered by an intuitive platform, unmatched customer care, and cloud-based capabilities, our municipal software consistently exceeds client expectations.
We are building something new. BS&A is modernizing our integration platform — moving from flat file imports and exports to a modern, API-first approach — and we’re looking for an early-career product professional to grow with us as we build it. This is a rare opportunity to join a stable, established company at the ground floor of a strategic platform initiative, with direct ownership and visibility from day one.
This role is designed to grow. You’ll start by supporting integration scoping and process work, and will quickly expand into driving API roadmap decisions and owning the full integration lifecycle as the platform matures. You’ll be supported by a Platform Product Manager and work within a team that is genuinely invested in your development.
Our API development process incorporates AI tools throughout the SDLC — from accelerating product requirements and API design through to code generation and documentation. We expect this role to be an eager, curious participant in that workflow.

What You’ll Do:
Support API Roadmap & Requirements
- Assist in defining and documenting requirements for API endpoints, starting with our Q4 2026 initial release
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and specification drafts in partnership with the Platform Product Manager and engineering team
- Help build and maintain a prioritized backlog of future integrations and API endpoints for roadmap planning
Own Integration Request Management
- Serve as the dedicated point of contact for customer add-on integration requests; managing intake, scoping, and coordination
- Work directly with customers, Sales, and Professional Services as a subject matter expert to understand integration needs, evaluate fit within existing capabilities, and if necessary, translate them into clear product requirements
- Track and communicate status of active integration requests to ensure alignment amongst stakeholders
Support Integration Process Redesign
- Contribute to the redesign of BS&A’s end-to-end customer integration-related process across Sales, Professional Services, and Support
- Help build enabling tools and documentation: API catalog, flat file capabilities, scoping templates, pricing model inputs, and support playbooks
- Participate in cross-functional working sessions with Sales, Professional Services, and Support to build relationships and drive process adoption
API Documentation & Standards Support
- Assist in maintaining the API documentation portal so third-party vendors can self-serve integration specs
- Help ensure consistency across API documentation and endpoint definitions
- Gather and organize feedback from Customers, Sales, Professional Services, and Support to inform continuous platform improvements
- 1–3 years of experience in a product management, business analyst, project coordinator, or related role — OR a strong academic background in a relevant field with demonstrated technical aptitude
- Genuine curiosity about how software integrations work and a desire to build expertise in API-based platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and vice versa
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail; comfortable managing multiple work streams simultaneously
- Collaborative by nature — you build relationships easily and work well across Sales, Engineering, and customer-facing teams
- Comfort learning and working within an AI-assisted development workflow, leveraging AI tools to accelerate requirements writing, documentation, and specification work
- Ability to manage ambiguity and take initiative in a fast-paced environment where processes are still being defined
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with REST APIs or API documentation standards (OpenAPI/Swagger) — you don’t need to be an engineer, but you’re not afraid of technical concepts
- Experience working with or alongside a software implementation or professional services team
- Exposure to B2B SaaS products, particularly in government, municipal, or enterprise markets
- Background in or familiarity with flat file import/export-based integrations
- Experience using AI tools to produce written deliverables like documentation, requirements, or process artifacts
